A Record January for Chicken Exports
Brazil had a very good start to 2026 in chicken meat exports. According to data from ABPA, the country exported 459,000 tonnes of chicken meat in January.
This includes all types of chicken products, both fresh and processed.
Compared with January last year, exports grew by 3.6%, which makes this the highest January volume ever recorded.
Export Revenue Also Reached a New High
It was not only about volume. Export revenue also hit a record.
Total revenue in January 2026: US$ 874.2 million
Increase compared with January 2025: +5.8%
This means Brazil earned more money per shipment, showing strong prices and steady international demand.
Top Exporting States
Several Brazilian states played a key role in this performance.
Main exporting states in January 2026:
Paraná – 187.7 thousand tonnes (+3.9%)
Santa Catarina – 103.1 thousand tonnes (+9.3%)
Rio Grande do Sul – 58.7 thousand tonnes (+0.75%)
São Paulo – 26.7 thousand tonnes (+2%)
Goiás – 25.6 thousand tonnes (+9.5%)
Paraná remained the clear leader, while Santa Catarina and Goiás showed strong growth.
Strong Demand Even in a Slow Month
January is usually a month with lower global demand for meat. That is why these results are important.
Ricardo Santin, president of ABPA, said the growth across most major markets is a positive sign for the whole year.
Key Import Markets Driving Growth
Brazilian chicken exports grew in many regions, including:
United Arab Emirates
South Africa
European Union countries
Several Asian markets
Demand from these regions helped Brazil achieve record results despite seasonal challenges.
Positive Outlook for 2026
The strong performance in January suggests that 2026 could be another good year for Brazilian chicken exporters. Growth across different regions shows that demand is not limited to one market, which helps reduce risk and supports long-term stability.
