British pig meat is finding its way to more dinner tables in Vietnam.

From September 23 to 25, the Agriculture and Horticulture Development Board (AHDB), with support from the UK’s Department for Business and Trade, led a trade mission to the country. The goal was simple: connect British exporters with local partners and better understand the Vietnamese market.

Meetings in Hanoi and Ho Chi Minh City gave UK businesses a chance to showcase their products and spot new opportunities. Vietnam has been highlighted as a promising market, especially for pork offal — products that are less popular in the UK but in strong demand abroad.

So far this year, UK pig meat exports to Vietnam have been small, worth just over £68,000. But industry leaders see big potential. Pork exports already add about £56 per pig for the UK sector, and tapping into more Asian markets helps balance supply and demand across the whole carcass.

This mission is part of a bigger effort by AHDB to expand trade in red meat and dairy. Alongside export missions, they also join international trade shows and welcome overseas buyers to the UK.

By working closely with government and industry, the UK hopes to keep its pork exports growing — and Vietnam could become an important part of that journey.
