Founded in 1998, Maporal is one of Portugal’s largest pork producers, located in Reguengos de Monsaraz. Specialising in pork slaughter, processing, and export, the company plays a pivotal role in Portugal’s agricultural sector. With a capacity to process 3,000 pigs daily, Maporal stands among the most modern facilities in Europe.

Global Expansion and Product Range. Currently exporting to 25 countries, primarily to China, Maporal plans to expand to 80 markets by 2024. Their diverse product range includes fresh and frozen pork cuts, catering to wholesale and retail needs worldwide. With plans to increase annual revenue from €45 million to €120 million by 2024, their vision is set on significant growth​ (ECO, Agroportal).

Investment in Modernisation. Maporal has invested over €24 million in facility upgrades, including a fully modernised slaughterhouse and 45 processing lines. The next phase of investment focuses on expanding storage capacity for frozen products, supported by €10 million in community funds​ (FILPORC). These initiatives ensure Maporal remains at the forefront of the European pork industry, integrating cutting-edge technology and a commitment to sustainability.

Focus on Sustainability and Quality. Certified by IFS, Maporal maintains high standards in food safety and quality. The company also integrates sustainable practices throughout its operations, ensuring they meet current demand while positioning themselves for future market growth.

Strategic Expansion into Asia. China is Maporal’s largest export market, and the company is actively pursuing expansion into other Asian markets, including Japan, Thailand, and Singapore. Additionally, the United States is a key target in their global strategy​ (Agroportal, IPIM).

Partnership with Meatborsa. In addition to its global ambitions, Maporal has partnered with Meatborsa, a leading online platform for wholesale meat products.
